European Plants founded in 2007 by Joost Michels from the Netherlands.

After years of experience as a co-owner of a commercial nursery in the Netherlands, Joost could not resist the challenge, to start all over again abroad. Because of his perseverance, willpower, drive and passion, his dream became reality in Northern Macedonia. 

A contract for 430 ha. agricultural land was taken over, including 14 employees. As quickly as possible, fruit trees, grains and corn were removed for a large assortment of perennial garden plants.

The nursery expanded rapidly and both, well-known and new customers were invited to visit the nursery. He managed to create a customer base in many countries and a lot types of markets.

 

Joost suddenly died in May 2019.
The month of its 12th anniversary, grown to 350 ha. plants of which 300 ha. open field and 50 ha. container field, 170 employees…and still not finished with his plans. Joost's "hobby", life's purpose and life's work, will therefore be continued by his partner Willeke Roes.

Willeke has always been closely involved.
